Your First Visit
What to expect
In order to give you the best possible care, we need to get to know you and your health story!
Your first visit will generally be 30 to 120 minutes long, depending on the modality and your current health concerns.
Your initial session will last 60-90 minutes total depending on your health history. Please bring any supplements you are currently taking or readable pictures of the ingredient labels. Your acupuncturist will take a detailed health history, feel your pulse, and get you comfortable in your room for acupuncture. You will be on the table for 30 minutes or so. Please use the restroom beforehand as you will not be able to get up during your session.
For best results, wear comfortable clothing that can be pulled up to the elbows and knees, and avoid treatment when excessively hot, sweaty, or exhausted from outdoor work or excessive exercise, if in an excessively over-emotional state, or currently nauseous from overeating or food poisoning.

How often do I need to come in and how many times? This varies from person to person. It depends on the problem, how long it has persisted, your overall health, and how well you respond to treatment. Often we recommend once or twice a week to resolve acute symptoms, and then spread the visits out to weekly, every 10 days, every two weeks, etc. Many people get noticeable relief of symptoms within 4-6 sessions, but continue to come to resolve the underlying issues that created the problem in the first place. Once that is resolved, they often come back for other health concerns as they present themselves. Chronic health conditions (persisting for over 3 months) take longer to heal than acute ones (short term, recently manifested).

Do you work with children?Absolutely! We love working with children. Our no-needle allergy treatments are effective for both adults and children. For conditions other than allergy/sensitivity, we have noticed that children often respond more quickly and easily than adults to acupuncture. If your child is unwilling or unable to tolerate needles, we use cold lasers to stimulate the points. They feel nothing other than the plastic tip of the probe touching the point gently!

How much do your services cost?Rates vary depending on services performed. Call the office for specifics.

Why do I need to take herbs and supplements?Often, herbs and supplements are recommended to balance and build up the body while you are in treatment. This is a great way to help you get treatment daily while only coming in to the office once a week or less.
-
Is acupuncture safe?Yes, acupuncture is extremely safe. There are no side effects except relaxation. It is an effective and safe way to address many of our most common health concerns today without harsh prescriptions. There is no risk of infection because the needles are sterile, single use, and prepackaged to maintain this quality.
-
Why does the acupuncturist feel my pulse on both sides? In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the pulse is a diagnostic tool. Your practitioner is feeling for texture, level, and depth, and in multiple positions. These positions are associated with the meridians/organ channels and indicate the health and energy flow of that particular organ system. Different textures indicate different patterns of function.
-
What is energy healing?Energy healing is a holistic practice that activates the body's subtle energy systems to remove blocks. By breaking through these energetic blocks, the body's inherent ability to heal itself is stimulated. It is often a gentle hands on modality that includes but is not limited to Reiki, Qi Gong, Resonance Repatterning, Heart to Heart, Pranic Healing and even acupuncture/acupressure.
